Non-profit leaders begin laying the roadmap to future technologies
WASHINGTON - PICnet, Inc. (www.picnet.net),
a technology consulting firm for non-profit organizations, today
inaugurated its first roundtable in a ten part series on innovation in
the non-profit marketplace. The event was attended by senior members of
non-profit organizations, coalitions, and technology vendors.
"This
roundtable series will give non-profit organizations a chance to define
a vision for future technologies for their community," said Ryan
Ozimek, CEO of PICnet. "Innovation is key invigorating the non-profit
community, which desperately needs to find better technology solutions
to solve common problems."
Tonight's roundtable provided a wide
variety of viewpoints, and touching topics such as online engagement,
e-advocacy, and international collaboration. Future roundtables will
focus on specific issue areas, including politics, international
collaboration, and grassroots activism.
After each of the roundtable events, participants will add their thoughts and opinions to the roundtable's Web site (www.picnet.net/roundtable/).
The information collected on the Web site over the next ten months will
be compiled into a compendium report which will be freely distributed
to the non-profit community.
"Fueling these roundtable
discussions is the belief that the ideas generated in the series will
be used to spark important projects and solutions that will ultimately
help solve many of the problems non-profits face on a daily basis,"
said Ozimek.
"It's time to give non-profits a better alternative
to the hand-me-downs from business sector," said Ozimek. "The
Innovation Roundtable provides the forum in which innovation can be
nutured to build new technology made specifically for the non-profit
community, by the non-profit community," said Ozimek.
The Innovation Roundtable series takes place once a month in Washington, DC, and will continue through October 2004.
